After carrying out our test footage we carried out our filming for a scene that takes place on the drop of our song and a scene in the house which involves the dog and protagonist. For this we used a Go Pro, tripod and flycam stabiliser. We went to Ilkley moor where we experienced some problems that affected the quality of the shot. The weather wasn't ideal as it was extremely windy and there was inconsistent lighting- especially for the go pro as lighting is important to get clear shots. We also had problems with the stabilizer as it kept unbalancing and disorientating. This was probably due to the windy conditions as the GoPro is light causing it to easily sway in the wind. After this frustration it forced us to have to shoot the shots handheld which made it easier but still quite shaky. This was not ideal but we believe we were still able to get some relatively good shots and after we slow them down to their normal frame rate we hope the shakiness should be improved and made less obvious. We then went to my house to film the part with Rita (the dog) again we experienced some problems here as she wouldn't do what we wanted her to do after many attempts. We saw this date as a relatively unsuccessful day of filming however we did film some good shots that can be used within our production. Despite this, more filming of these scenes is required. By continuing to film on the GoPro, we have realised the complexity of the shots are minimised because of the inability to use depth of field. After realising this we decided to incorporate both types of camera (DSLR and GoPro). The DSLR camera can also shoot in 50 frames per second.
Next Steps:
- Complete filming for both drops
- Get some footage using the masks
