Music Video Influences

Drumsound and Bassline Smith - Through the Night

This music video has certain aspects that appeal to me and have influenced our music video. Originally our music video idea didn't include any romantic aspects and only included a boy. After watching this video and analysing it, I realised a female protagonist should be included to expand on the storyline. In this sense, this music video has already impacted on a large factor of our music video idea. In terms of editing, it impacted our interpretation because the pace of editing matched the beat of the song (beat speeds up, pace of editing speeds up). This made us realise we should include this aspect of editing. The music video looks to be set somewhere warm and sunny creating good, sufficient lighting for the video. I specifically liked the look it gave the music video therefore we have decided lighting is a vital aspect. This has influenced when and what days we film on as weather has a large impact.

Disclosure - White Noise

This has impacted on a large aspect of our music video: Locations. The locations seen within this music video are unusual and include mostly abandoned buildings and run down areas. I feel the abandoned buildings create good opportunities to show off cinematography skills and give the video a generally creative affect. After viewing this and deciding we want to include run down/abandoned buildings, we have been searching to find possibilities. After a long search, we found our there is an abandoned hospital not far from where we live - this is now a major location included within our music video.

Kodaline - All I Want

The cinematography within this music video is performed to a high level. There is clear thought and care taken upon each upcoming shot which appeals greatly to me. Good quality and professional  shots are what I would like to include within my own music video. Specifically though this music video includes a dog having a good relationship with its owner (the protagonist). Like our music video idea, this one includes a social outcast because of how he looks.
